Waar gaat Garo: Crimson Moon over?
Heian-kyō, hoofdstad en het centrum van de elegante, aristocratische cultuur, wordt zwaar bewaakt door een spiritueel krachtveld – zo lijkt het tenminste. In werkelijkheid kunnen onmyōji (hofmagiërs die het spirituele krachtveld creëren) alleen het paleis in het noordelijke deel van de stad verdedigen; in de binnenstad zwerven na zonsondergang monsters rond die bekend staan als 'horror' en die zich tegoed doen aan menselijke zielen. Er is echter een groep helden die het gewone volk beschermt tegen 'verschrikkingen' in de duisternis.

With the book of magic, Onmyouryo, Kaguya prepares to cast the spell to seal Rudra while Seimei, Kintoki and the Gold and Silver knights physically attack the monster. Rudra begins absorbing the souls of people in the capital to increase its strength. They realize that Rudra is more powerful than before because of Douman’s influence and Raikou is sucked into its internal darkness. However he manages to bring the light of the Golden Knight into the darkness and enable Kaguya to seal Rudra and remove the Crimson Moon. In the aftermath, Douman reappears and attacks Raikou again but is defeated, and Seimei releases his soul, freeing him of the darkness that controlled him.
